North American Moth

A Lasiocampid Moth

What: Dicogaster coronada

Sex: Mixed

City: Patagonia, Arizona

County: Santa Cruz County

How: Attracted to 160W Mercury Vapor & 160 W Blacklight Fluroresent lights

When: July 2003

Who: Robert J. Nuelle, Jr.

Comments: This is a one of my favorite moths from the trip. There are striking differences between the Males and Females and all are magnificent studies in the subtle shadings of brown and gray. This is a highly variable species and was absolutely a delight to witness - sitting demurely on the sheets, not in a frensyh, flapping near the lights.
