| This is Malacosoma disstria, the Forest Tent Caterpillar. Just goes to show you that you can't always simply dismiss the common stuff. Indeed, when I first saw the thing, I thought it was simply deformed -- then I took a closer look, and immediately knew what I was looking at. The specimen was captured in Micanopy, Florida (not far south of Gainesville) in April 1997. | ||
